Fine, I'll explain what I mean.
Most of my students and my kids as well, are not allowed to bring their smart phones or tablets to school. School issued devices are fine, but personal smart devices are prohibited. Why is that? Well, they can use them to look up answers to questions on tests or assignments. Isn't that fine? Adults do that all the time to help them with work. Kids need to know how to best to search for reliable and accurate information. Start them young. Teach them basic internet etiquette and safety early so they don't fall for the same scams the baby boomers fall for. Some of the more enterprising of them will come up with their own scams in time. And so the circle continues.
Or maybe they will use it to spend all their time on social media and not pay attention to class. Let's be honest, those types of kids weren't paying attention anyways. Look at a majority of the workforce, what percentage isn't already semi-addicted to one or more of the big information brokers?
Let them be, they'll figure things out on their own and we can learn from them.
