Then the answer is greed right? Does that mean the Buddhists have it right? People desire a good life where their hard earned money can work for them and grow passively. The best way to do so is to gamble the way capitalism beckons us to feed it's bottomless maw. (Yes, this is a cheap shot at the economic theory, but I do think it is the best way humans have come up with so far.) Is it wrong? No! Why is it bad to want a comfortable life and do what you want without having to worry about your next meal? Rent? Medical costs? Old age? It's what anyone sane wants! We all want a better life for our children, but we also know the pain of broken dreams and the struggle just to stay afloat. So we are caught in a stupid back and forth of wanting them to live their lives freely and follow their hearts, while also pushing them to fit the paradigm of success that we saw worked for the affluent of our generation. I hate when I catch myself doing this to my kids, but I don't know what else to do. Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. A great throw pillow quote written in cursive, but only truly believed by those who got lucky enough to be successful at what they wanted. Do I sound salty? I sure do!

そうすると、答えは貪欲ですよね？ということは、仏教徒の考えは正 しいのでしょうか？人々は、苦労して稼いだお金が自分のために働い て、受動的に成長できるような良い生活を望んでいます。そうするた めの最善の方法は、資本主義の底なしの胃袋を養うよう手招きするよ うに、ギャンブルをすることです。 （はい、これは経済理論に対する 安っぽい挑発ですが、資本主義が人類がこれまでに考え出した最良の 方法だと思います。） それは間違っていますか？いいえ！快適な生活 を望み、次の食事の心配をせずにやりたいことをすることがなぜ悪い のでしょうか？家賃？医療費？老後？それは正気の人なら誰でも望ん でいることです！子供たちのためにより良い生活を望んでいますが、 夢が破れたときの苦しみや、なんとか生き延びるための苦労も知って います。そのため、彼らに自由に人生を送り、彼らの心に従うことを 望みながら、裕福な人たちにうまく機能していると見ていた成功のパ ラダイムに彼らを当てはめるように押し付けるという、愚かな行った り来たりに囚われているのです。自分が子供たちにこんなことをして いることに気づいたら嫌ですが、他に何をしたらいいのか分かりませ ん。好きなことをしていれば、一生働かなくても済みます。素晴らし い言い伝えですが、望むことで成功した幸運に恵まれた人だけが本当 に信じています。嫌味に聞こえるでしょうか？確かにそう思います！
