Forest fires seem to becoming more and more common around the world. In Japan, these fires tend to be smaller when compared to United States and more quickly controlled. I doubt this is because of the relative skills of the fire fighters and their counterparts. Scale seems to be the issue here. America is 25 times larger than Japan and much more varied in climate. Japan is almost 70% covered by forest while almost 35% of the US is covered. Japan loses on average, 4000 hectares of forest to fires annually and the US loses a little more than 2.5 million hectares.
Those are the numbers do with it as you will. In either case, it's human error that starts these fires. Climate change is also a big factor when looking at the increase in quantity and severity of these fires.
山火事は世界中でますます当たり前になっているようです。日本では、米国に比べて火災は小規模で、より迅速に鎮圧される傾向があります。これは消防士のスキルによるものではないと思います。スケールの問題です。アメリカは日本の 25 倍の面積を持ち、気候もはるかに多様です。日本は約 70% が森林で覆われているのに対し、米国の約 35% は森林で覆われています。日本では毎年平均して 4,000 ヘクタールの森林が火災により失われ、米国では 250 万ヘクタール強が失われています。 この数字はどう解読するのは自由。いずれにせよ、こうした火災を引き起こすのは人的ミスです。これらの火災の量と深刻さの増加を見ると、気候変動も大きな要因です。
Saying that, I personally have fortunately not had to deal with forest fires until this summer.
One of our family trips was dampened by smoke from fires almost 100 kilometers away. I was shocked that this was now the norm in the area, and people just live with it.
One of our camping trips was also affected as there was a burn ban due the dry climate. My kids were bummed that they couldn't have a camp fire, but they saw a family a few hundred meters away happily ignoring the signs and enjoying a small bonfire. I understand.
I am sure that I could have controlled any fire in our fire pit and fully extinguish it with no fear of it accidentally spreading. I have years of experience with fires in prepared firepits and selfmade ones. Why shouldn't I trust myself than some government regulation?
Because most fires were caused by people thinking the exact same thing as me.
そうは言っても、個人としては幸いなことに、この夏まで山火事に遭遇したことありませんでした。 家族旅行は、ほぼ100キロ離れたところからの火災の煙によって台無しになりました。それが今ではその地域では当たり前のことであり、人々はそれを受け入れて暮らしていることはショックでした。 乾燥した気候のため焚火が禁止されていたため、キャンプ旅行の1つも影響を受けました。子供たちはキャンプファイヤーができないことにガッカリしていましたが、数百メートル離れたところにある家族が標識を無視して楽しそうに大きい焚火を楽しんでいるのが見えました。うん、わかるよ。 自分でしたら、ファイヤーピット内のあらゆる焚火を制御し、誤って延焼することを恐れることなく完全に消すことができたと確信しています。自分は、用意された焚き火台や自作の焚き火台での火入れに関する長年の経験があります。なぜ政府の規制よりも自分自身を信頼すべきじゃないか? なぜなら、ほとんどの火災はそのまったく同じことを考えている人々によって引き起こされたいるから。
