横浜市英語塾 LAE The Perseids and other sky things
It has been quite awhile since an update as I have been busy with summer school. Forgive me.
With the Perseids in full swing this week, I hope that some people will get to see this awesome cosmic event.
While talking with some students about it, one said that they would probably be able to see it near their place. This confused me because I was pretty sure they lived in the city where it is pretty bright. Then I was told by the student that it was dark enough for them to see, hear me out, THREE whole stars on a dark night. It was funny, but also a bit sad when I realized stars are a rare sight in the city. The student also told me about how they sometimes see flickering stars that move quickly through the night sky. In the middle of their explanation, I think they realized that what they were talking about was probably a satellite.
サマースクールで忙しかったので、アップデートは久しぶりです。許して。 今週はペルセウス座流星群が本格化する中、この素晴らしいイベントを目にする人がいることを願っています。 それについて何人かの学生と話している間、一人はおそらく家の近くでそれを見ることができるだろうと言った。かなり明るい街に住んでいるの知っていたので、「あれ？」と思いました。それから生徒からはなんと、「暗い夜だったら星3つもみえるぞ！」、と言われました。面白かったですが、少し悲しかったです。その生徒はまた、夜空をすばやく移動するキラキラ星を時々見ることについても教えてくれました。生徒が説明の途中で、おそらく自分の話は衛星だと気づきました。
