Today is the anniversery of when Robert Goddard proved that he could build and successfully launch a liquid fueled rocket.  He was one of the reasons that gave the US space program a head start.  In memory of his contributions, on the same day as the first successful rocket launch 35 years later, the Goddard Flight Center was established as one of the ten major NASA laboratories.

The Goddard Flight Center is responsible for the great pictures we get from the Hubble telescope and hopefully this year, the Webb Space Telescope will be sent up and give us an even more beautiful view of our awesome Universe!

今日は、ロバート・ゴダードが液体燃料ロケットを製造して打ち上げることができることを証明したときの記念日です。彼は、米国の宇宙計画に有利なスタートを切った理由の1つでした。彼の貢献を記念して、35年後、最初のロケット打ち上げの成功と同じ日に、ゴダードフライトセンターがNASAの10の主要な研究所の1つとして設立されました。

ゴダードフライトセンターは、ハッブル望遠鏡から得られる素晴らしい写真を担当しています。今年は、ウェッブ宇宙望遠鏡が送られたら、素晴らしい宇宙のさらに美しい景色を見せてくれることを願っています。
