Today we covered a short history of how humans have tried to figure out the age of the Earth and their estimates as well.

So far the most accurate count comes from Clair Patterson who decided to use meteorites to infer the age of the Earth. (He also figured out that gasoline with lead additives was seriously polluting our lives, and spent a good amount of time fighting the oil lobby to start cleaning our air. THANK YOU!!)  

Speaking of meteorites, today is also the anniversary of the Chelyabinsk meteor impact in Russia 8 years ago.  So that's just a fun little reminder that an errant space rock can wipe us all out in the blink of an eye.  Have a great day!

今日は、人間が地球の年齢とその推定値をどのように把握しようとしたかについての短い歴史を勉強しました。

これまで、最も正確な数字は、地球の年齢を推測するために隕石を使用することを決定したクレアパターソンから来ています。 （彼はまた、鉛添加剤を含むガソリンが私たちの生活を深刻に汚染していることを理解し、私たちの空気をきれいにするために石油会社と戦うのにかなりの時間を費やしました。ありがとう!!）

隕石といえば、今日は8年前のロシアにおけるチェリャビンスク隕石の衝突の記念日でもあります。ですから、それは、宇宙の石ころが瞬く間に私たち全員を一掃する可能性があることを思い出させる楽しいものですね。すてきな一日を！
