Last week, one of our vocabulary words was 'sarcasm'.  It took some time to explain what it meant, but with some examples, the students understood it to a certain extent.  English sarcasm and irony do not translate well into Japanese as a vehicle for humor.

And to today is anniversary of the establishing of a boundary between two whiny landowners since they could not bare to part with a few meters of of their already multi-hectare plots.  This argument went all the way to the British throne, who just told them to figure it out themselves.  So they hired two surveyors to find a border.  Thank you Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon for creating a border that had very little consequence on the future of the New World colonies!
